Why "Focusing" is Becoming Harder for Our Kids

There is a silent, subtle, universal issue that is affecting all of us…adults, children, everyone, more than we realize.

It’s our ability to focus.

Our focus is being stolen, hijacked by many factors and companies who are profiting from doing so.

More and more people say they have trouble focusing…

“I often find myself watching TV and on my phone at the same time”
“It’s hard for me to just sit and read a book”
“I can’t stop my mind from going a 100 miles/hr”

Why does this matter? Because it is affecting how much joy and fulfillment we get from life.

More importantly, it is affecting our kids.

More kids now are struggling to focus than ever before.

So what can we do as parents to preserve and increase our kids focus?

Here are 3 tips to increase your kid's focus:

TIP 1 : UNSTRUCTURED, FREE PLAY TIME

Give your kids "unstructured" play time to explore, wander, be curious and learn, with minimal guidance & interruptions.

BONUS TIP: Try 20-min daily outdoor unstructured playtime before dinner.

TIP 2 : GET ENOUGH SLEEP

10-12 hours of sleep is essential for kids to stay more focused throughout the day. Research has shown a correlation between lack of sleep and a lack of focus.

TIP 3 : ENCOURAGE READING PHYSICAL BOOKS

Reading calms us, teaches us to focus and helps us get into“flow state," the deepest form of attention & focus.

BONUS TIP: Plan 10 minutes of silent reading time with the entire family every Sunday night before bed.
