We had a workshop with a group of kids and wow, I was blown away!
I wish you all could have heard their comments and seen their understanding of concepts that so many of us adults are still trying to learn.
Here are just a few things they said that I want to share:
"I like to listen to my heart, mind and my gut and then decide what is the right thing to do"
"Sometimes my mind tells me that I am not good enough when I go to my class that is really hard. Everyone is really really good at it so my mind sometimes says 'i'm not good enough to be in this class'"
"There is no point in comparing yourself to others because we are perfect just the way we are so we are not supposed to be like others"
I didn't have this understanding at age 7 or 8 or even 9, but here were these kids not only interested but actually grasping it and connecting the dots to their personal experiences.
At one point in the workshop, a couple of kids shared moments where they noticed their mind was making up thoughts. Moments where they felt they weren't good enough or they couldn't do something.
Then I asked everyone if they had ever felt that way and guess what? All the kids gave a thumbs up (I did too), agreeing that we all had!!
WOW!!!! What a meaningful moment for all the kids to know that they were not alone in having thoughts about not being good enough or not being able to do something.
Kudos to their courage to be vulnerable and honest! Kudos to their beautiful minds and hearts!
These kids and their comments above are a testament to all you parents. YOU know the importance of Inner Strength and YOU choose to prioritize this for your kids. Our purpose at Hatch Brighter is to simply make sure you have what you need so you can continue to do so! Thank you for letting us be a small part of your journey.
